  • COBRA Insurance?

I recently got a new job. I want to keep my vision insurance through cobra. I was scheduled to be able to use my contact benefits ($145 credit) on May 1st. I really just want to keep it until then so I can use those benefits and get contacts. I logged into my insurance portal (I have VSP) and it of course shows that I no longer am enrolled in a plan. Do I just call VSP and set everything up with the new premium? And will my benefits and benefit dates be the same, so I can use those benefits on the 1st of May? Thanks for any help.

  • Calories in Cooked Steak?

Hello. I ordered an 11-oz steak from Outback. I know the steak loses weight after it is cooked. When I weighed it, it was 7.23-oz. Is this typical for a loss in weight when cooked? The nutrition information online says that an 11-oz steak is 390 calories. I know it depends on how it was cooked, how long it was cooked, etc., but I just want a general indication of how many calories I ate. Thank you!

  • Stimulus Check for Dependents?

I have three children, currently ages 17, 15, and 5. The oldest turned 17 in August of this year. Will I receive the $500 stimulus check for him since it will go based off of 2019’s tax return, or since he is currently 17, will I not receive it?

  • Serving size of spaghetti?

Apparently I have been underselling myself when counting calories for my pasta portions. I have a big family, which can sometimes make it difficult to measure portion sizes when cooking. When I make spaghetti, I have weighed the noodles after cooking. I have generally weighed 3 oz of noodles and added a 1/2 cup of sauce. I thought the 3 oz of spaghetti noodles was 300 calories (box says 2 oz is 200 calories). In reading articles, it seems that the 2 oz serving size should be dry noodles, not cooked ones. Can someone please tell me about how much the 3 oz of cooked noodles is in dry noodles? Or about how many calories the 3 oz of cooked noodles would be?

  • Tax Return Questions.?

I am filing my 2017 tax return. The only income I received for the year was a cash benefit issuance for medical assistance from the state. I received it because I had cancer and was not able to work during treatment. Total, I received $7435. I did not receive any form for this and was told by the Jefferson County community assistance office that they do not send forms for this. Instead, the representative printed out a form for me showing all the months I received assistance, as well as the amounts. For example, for April I received $463, for May I received $773, and so forth. Each entry says "Adult Financial", "Regular Benefit". Does anyone know what I file this under for my taxes? I would think miscellaneous income, but I don't want to enter it in the wrong place. I have always received forms, so I am at a loss on what to do. Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

  • Suspended license...Can I get emissions, plates, insurance, and registration.?

I live in Colorado. I have a suspended license and can reinstate it on May 23rd. I found a really good deal on a car, and I would like to buy it and park it until my license is reinstated. By Colorado law, I need to register the car within 60 days. In order to do this, I need insurance. I already found an insurance place that will allow me to get liability insurance as long as I sign something stating that I will not drive the car until my license is reinstated. I keep calling the DMV and am not able to get a hold of anyone. I need to let the buyer know if I am getting the car right away, so he does not sell it. So, first off, if my brother takes me to get emissions, will he be able to provide his license even though he is not on the title to get the emissions done? Obviously, I will be there and have my Identification Card (not driver's license), but will I be able to use it to show them that I am on the title, and that it is my car, and that my brother just drove me there since I cannot drive. Then if I bring the emissions, my Identification Card, and proof of insurance to the DMV, will I be able to register the car and get plates for it? If not, is there another option for me to get this car right away? Thanks!

  • Taxable scholarships.?

For the 2013 tax year, I was not aware that I had to pay taxes because my scholarships were greater than my qualified expenses (I used $4,000 of it to pay room and board and a meal plan). For 2013, I only made $1,500 from working. So, total taxable income was $3,500. I was told by one tax specialist that I have to file a return (I did not file one at the time, because I did not have any taxes taken out), and then will have to pay taxes and possibly fees and interest on the room and board. Then I was told by another tax specialist that since my total taxable income was under the income threshold, I do not have to worry about it. Can someone please tell me what I actually have to do, and I have to pay taxes, what I can expect to pay?

  • Sprint phone bill charges.?

I was charged an extra $12 on my phone bill for 59 "international texts - Russia". I contacted a Sprint representative, asked if this could be a mistake, and they said that it was not a mistake. I asked for an explanation, and he said he could not give me one. I checked my text log, and I have texts that show up from a friend's phone number (as 720-xxx-xxxx) and are under category "texts". But, for the same phone number for a few days out of the month, the texts show up under the category "international texts" for a charge of $0.20 per text. I contacted my friend, and she was definitely not in Russia for any period last month. Can someone please tell me where these charges came from? I will have to call Sprint tomorrow, but I would just like to know before I am put on hold with them for an hour.

    Scraped paint on car.?

I just now realized that there are a bunch of scratches and scrapings on the front bumper of my car (pics attached). I know the best and smartest option would be to take it into an auto body shop, but I know that will be expensive. Plus I hit a pole about a year and a half ago (about 2500 worth of damage), and I was involved in a hit and run accident (about 1500 in damage) a few months ago. Both times I went through insurance and both times my rates skyrocketed. I have found a few videos of what products to use and what to do to get rid of these scratches and scrapings, but am not sure which one is most effective. Does anyone know a cheap, effective, and "easy" way to get rid of them?

  • Expenses on 1098-T form.?

On my 1098-T form, my tuition, along with my online book fees, are entered in box 2. On my student finance portal, I realized that the student activity fees ($250 for fall semester and $275 for spring semester) are not included in this amount. I have read on a few websites that these fees are necessary expenses, and on other websites, that they are not. When I enter my scholarships and grants (box 5), my tax refund amount goes down because this amount is greater than box 2. However, when I add in the activity fees, the amount goes back up a little. Am I able to include the activity fees as qualified expenses? Or does it just depend on the university?

  • 1098-T form for tax return.?

I am filling in my 1098-T form on my tax return. Last year, I had online classes and my laptop broke, so I purchased a $300 laptop. I also purchased 5 of my necessary textbooks from Amazon, and 3 from a friend. I do not have physical receipts for any of these materials. For the laptop, I have the transaction on my credit card statement (back in January), and for the books I purchased on Amazon, I have the transaction both on my credit card statement and on my Amazon account. Do I need to print off this information and attach it to my tax return? Also, what do I do for the books I purchased from my friend? Do I get a signed note from her? Thank you.

  • 1098-T form?

I received my 1098-T form for last year. Box 2 has $17,010 and box 5 has $18,228. I was told that I have to report these amounts on my tax return and pay taxes on the $1,218, even though I used this money to pay for room and board. Last year, I was told by the person who was filling out my taxes that because the amount in box 2 (last year it was $8,335), was less than the amount in box 5 ($10,823), I did not qualify for the Hope credit or any other credit, and that I did not need to do anything with the form. Can someone please explain this to me?

  • 1098 t form?

Last semester, I took one class paid for by one of the scholarships I received in high school. On the 1098 t form I received, box 2 (qualified tuition and related expenses) says $931.44 and box 5 (scholarships) says $1400. I am confused as to how these numbers are not the same seeing as how I only took the one class online. Can someone please explain this to me?

  • How do the covenants of God (Noahic, Abrahamic, Mosaic, Davidic, and New) relate to each other?

I know that the Abrahamic Covenant promised that Abraham would be a great nation, and that his descendants would be great. The Mosaic reaffirmed this if the people kept the law. The Davidic also reaffirmed this and added that David's throne would endure forever due to the Messiah. I just cannot put in words how the Noahic and New Covenants relate to the other ones.

    Car scratches and damage.?

This afternoon, I noticed some scratches and other damage to my right side door. I have no clue where it came from. Yesterday, I washed my car at a self-service car wash, so it had to have happened yesterday night or this morning. Can someone tell me what might have caused this and also how much it will cost to fix without getting involved with insurance?

  • Jail sentence.?

My sister is facing 2-5 years in prison. We are meeting with a public defender later this week to discuss our options, but can someone explain to me how this whole process will work (her court date is Septeber 10th)? So, is the absolute minimum amount of time she will face 2 years, or is there a possibility of getting this lowered?

  • Lost car title and registration?

I financed a car about a year ago and am still paying it off. A couple days ago, my house flooded and the backpack with all of my car information and papers that I have gotten since I have had the car were ruined. I cannot tell one document from the next. Can someone please tell me which documents (title, registration, etc.) I need to replace and what steps I must take and what it will cost to do all this in Colorado?

  • Tax on paycheck.?

On my first paycheck, there was no Federal or State Income Tax withheld. My paycheck says "Exemptions/Allowances": Tax Override. On my W-4, I marked 1 because no one can claim me as a dependent and 1 because I am single. I have done this for all of my other jobs, and I have had tax withheld. My boss is out of town until next week, so I cannot contact him about it. Can someone please explain this to me?
