I love Yahoo Answers. I try to be completely fair and honest even if I know that my answer may not be liked by everyone. I don't claim to be right 100% of the time, but I do like to think that my honesty and frankness does more good than bad.

  • How do they make eye glasses for small children?

Specifically, how do they determine what prescription the child needs?

Because older children an adults can do the "better, or worse" thing...but what about the infants you see with glasses, or children who don't talk yet, or wouldn't understand what's being asked of them in the "better or worse?" situation?

  • I'd like to learn the basics of programming and coding, please help?

I'm aware that learning programming and coding is a lengthy process, and there's LOTS of different languages to learn. I know there are kits out there designed to teach kids the basics, and they wind up building an actual little program or something in the process.

So what I'm wondering, is there something like that for adults who are beginners too? Maybe something a bit more advanced than the kids kids, but not super advanced?

    Please let me know!

  • Tell me your experiences with septum piercings please?

I want to get my septum pierced. A friend of mine who is a college professor recently got hers done and has been able to flip it up into her nose without issue. That's what is making me want to do it more, because I like the idea of being able to hide it without taking it out.

So yeah, if you've got a septum piercing, let me know your experiences with it, the good, the bad, so on and so forth.

Oh, and if you're just gonna be on here to tell me not to do it, go away, you're wasting your time.

  • Accounting help with depreciation please?

In my accounting class, we're doing financial statements based on transactions in a game of Monopoly. Last lesson plan, she gave us all sorts of basic transactions, including the purchase of rental property. For this lesson plan, we have to do accruals and deferrals, and one of the things we have to account for is depreciation on our rentals.

However, the actual process of calculating depreciation isn't covered til two lesson plans til now so I'm a bit at a loss. I have the total spent on rentals, and she gave us a 20 year useful life for each. Am I correct in assuming I would total the amount spent on rental properties, then divide by 20, to get the annual depreciation from which I could figure out the monthly depreciation?

And, from there, in which accounts would I record it? I know at least part of it involves my Depreciation Expense account...

  • Easy explanation of how to create financial statements?

I'm working on accounting homework and have to create financial statements based on transactions in a game of Monopoly. I think I am off to a good start, but if anyone knows of any good resources that could walk me through it, I'd appreciate it.

    Thank you!

  • What's a good long lasting matte red lipstick?

I need a good long lasting matte finish red lipstick.

I'm going to be very busy the day I plan to wear it and won't have time to dart off to do touch ups often.

  • Why do people in the Family section keep indulging the incest trolls??

There's a person in the Family section who takes random pictures from the internet and implies that it's some incestuous situation between siblings. Why do people keep answering? It's OBVIOUSLY fake yet people keep putting up with it.

If you are using Google Chrome, right click the pictures, and hit the "search Google for this image" feature. It will show you that half the pictures are stolen from other people's sources and fetish sites.

So are people really that gullible?

  • I'm trying to learn more about contouring my face with makeup?

Does anyone have any good links to youtube tutorials or something? I'm a complete beginner and I want to get better at it, because it would open up some more possibilities in my favorite hobby (cosplay).

If it's relevant, my foundation is usually the lightest shade of ivory you can buy in most brands, and I prefer liquids and stick types of makeup to powder. I have an moderately oily complexion and powder has just gotten cakey no matter how much prep work I do.

  • I need help picking a fabric for a cape please?

    http://www.unique-vintage.com/unique-vintage-black...

I purchased this dress, and need to make a floor length cape to go with it. I don't want it to be chiffon like the dress because I don't want it to float away if I go outside and there is wind, but I also don't want it to be too heavy that it makes me look frumpy. The goal is to look somewhat regal.

So what is a good material to make a cape out of that would go with this dress? Anyone with knowledge of sewing or costuming, your answers are appreciated.

  • Should a bride's mother attend the bachelorette party?

Yahoo Answers isn't the only Q&A/etiquette site I visit. I was on another site recently and a question was asked from a mother who was going to go to her daughter's bachlorette weekend in Mexico. There was much more to the question than that, but it's irrelevant to the rest of MY question. I got down to the comments section, and was honestly very confused by how many people were taking issue with the fact that the mother had even been invited to the bachelorette party in the first place!

So it made me wonder, what are people's thoughts on this? My mom was at mine and she seemed a little surprised to be invited and I explained to her that she's awesome and any time she and I go out even just for lunch we have a good time. It made perfect sense to me to invite her. All of my married friends invited their moms too, and so did my sister in laws and all of their married friends. I don't actually know anyone who DIDN'T invite their mother.

So I'm just curious what other people's thoughts are on this? I realize ultimately it comes down to the bride and how close she is with her mom, but are there any parts of the Answers community where it really is just weird to invite your mom to this?

  • Did anything bad happen at your wedding that you didn't find out about til afterwards?

I recently found out that a guest at my wedding got a little too drunk and actually fell over in the bar area. She'd had weight loss surgery and hadn't quite figured out her new tolerance level I guess. My wedding was a year and a half ago but I just found out about this quite recently.

My wedding was great and I'm not embarrassed by this happening, it reflects more on the guest rather than it does on me or my husband...

So yeah, anyone else find out anything after the fact? What was it, and was it anything that actually changed your life/relationship with anyone?

  • Has anyone purchased a dress from Unique Vintage?

Has anyone purchased from this website?

    http://www.unique-vintage.com/

I'm looking to purchase a dress for a costume, and while I've heard good things about this site, I always have a difficult time convincing myself to purchase from places I've never bought from before.

I'm especially looking for answers regarding how accurate their size chart is, and if the quality matches the prices.... Help?

  • Where can I find high quality NOT SEE THROUGH unitards/dance costumes?

I am trying to make this costume

    http://www.aceshowbiz.com/images/news/marvel-s-tho...

I need some sort of unitard or dance costume that will work as the base. I am having a hard time finding anything where the top half is the right shape, they all have straps. I've even tried searching "Halter neck" and it keeps bringing up things that are NOT halter neck.

Even though most of it will be covered by other costume parts, I would prefer it if the unitard were not see through. Help please

  • Good inexpensive makeup brands?

My current makeup keeps getting more and more expensive and so I'm shopping for reasonably priced alternatives.

Currently I use Mary Kay foundation and moisturizer, and those are the two main products I'm wanting to replace. My foundation is currently $18 a tube and that's just ridiculous because I go through it fairly quickly because I cosplay so there are some days where I'm doing my makeup twice a day.

I'm also looking for reasonably priced mascara, eyeliner, blush, the works really.

So what are some good brands that aren't going to break the bank?

I have very fair combination oily skin if that's relevant.

  • Things to wear with a black scuba skater skirt?

I bought a black scuba skater skirt and now I can't figure out all the things I can wear with it. It's fairly long, and I'd like to be able to wear it to work at my office, so please don't suggest crop tops and things like that.

Can I wear it with tights? What styles of office appropriate shirts work? Links with pictures are helpful, so I know where to shop!!

  • How to tell if my hair is healthy or not?

I asked this the other day and haven't gotten many answers, and one of the two answers I did get clearly didn't actually read my question, so I will try again.

I recently spent nine months on blood thinners. One of the side effects was that it did shitty awful things to my hair. I am off the blood thinners now and working to improve my hair's condition.

What I want to know is how to tell if my hair is healthy, or how far along it is to being healthy? I spent so long with unhealthy damaged hair that I can no longer tell what is what up there. So what are some things I can look for to help me out here? It's a bit frizzy because it became very brittle while on the blood thinners and I have only been off them for about four months. I'm not sure how to tell what is new growth and what is breakage. Help?

Also, I need to make this clear as possible. DO NOT TELL ME WHAT VITAMINS TO TAKE. I have a medical condition, which prevents me from taking more of certain vitamins than what I would normally get out of food. I spoke to two doctors, a pharmacist, and a hair stylist and I am already taking vitamins that were designated as something I can safely take. ALL that I want to know is how to tell if my hair is healthy, I do NOT need to know what vitamins to take because I am already on vitamins. Thank you

  • How to tell if my hair is healthy or getting healthier?

I had to spend nine months on blood thinners for a health issue. One of the side effects was hair loss and just bad things happening to my hair in general. I've been off the blood thinners for nearly four months, and I've been taking vitamins and just trying to be nice to my hair overall (avoiding excessive heat styling, not doing things that will break it, etc), but the thing is, I haven't had healthy hair in so long because of the pills, that I can't tell how far along my hair is in the recovery process. What are some things I can look for?

  • Where can I buy a dress for a winter wedding?

I can find a dress to wear to a summer wedding with no problem. But I've never been to a winter wedding before and don't usually wear dresses in the winter because I live in WI and it can be 20 below 0 in the winter, so I don't even know where to start looking for dresses.

Sooo...some help please? I live in the US, so if you are going to tell me a place, tell me somewhere that either is IN the US or ships to the US. I don't want to spend more than $75 if I don't have to. And please give me links to specific items, don't just say "Wear a dress with sleeves!" The whole point of this question is I have never been shopping for a dress in winter, so I don't even know what places have dresses that will work.

  • What to wear to a winter wedding in Wisconsin?

I live in Wisconsin and have a wedding to attend on New Years Eve. While my closet is FULL of things I could wear to a summer wedding, I've never actually been to a winter wedding because no one seems to want their wedding in weather that could potentially be 20 below 0...so while I'm normally good at picking clothes, I'm at a loss here.

Both ceremony and reception are being held in a trendy wine bar, so cocktail attire, but I really have no idea what I can pick that will look good but still keep me from freezing if I should have to go outside... Help?

  • Pretend dress codes don't exist anywhere, and people could wear what they wanted without fear of getting in trouble or getting made fun of?

If this were the case, what would you wear?

I'm asking because a lot of times I think people dress to please others rather than themselves, and I'm wondering what the world would look like if everyone was completely free to wear whatever they wanted whenever and wherever they wanted to.
