  • how do I develop interest in studies in my son?

My son has just turned 12 and is in the 7th standard. He is an extremely bright boy and good in studies.

But my problem stems from the fact that it is always I who has to motivate him to study. While he listens to me out of respect, I believe that he is not achieving his full success as a topper in the class because he is not self motivated.

He studies only at the time of tests and exams.

Unless he starts studying by himself, he will not be the topper which he so badly wants to be. He is now 6th in the class of 35 students.

The same with his other activity karate.

Unless there is a tournament, he does not practise. He is extremely good in karate but since he does not get motivated to practise on his own, he gets a prize only sometimes.

Iam not over ambitious but I know my son can achieve success if he sets his mind to it. How can I help him?

No amount of advising him is helping. he gets irritated when I advise him

  • can a cat be happy in a new house?

I have a 1 yr old cat. We are very loving towards the cat. Iam planning to shift to a bigger house in the first floor. Will my cat be happy there. I heard that cats are attached only to places and not to people. Will being in the first floor be a problem for the cat? The problem is my children are very attached to the cat and will be miserable if the cat leaves that place. I know it is a silly question but can someone help me.

  • My 10 year old son is being victimised by a boy in his class.?

This boy is very intelligent and one of the toppers in class. My son is also intelligent and has started scoring well in class. For the past few days he had been bullied by this boy who is after him with a vengeance. Even if my son tries avoiding him, this boy tries to put down his morale by calling him names. He tells his friends that if they play with my son, they will lose his friendship. He gets small favours from my son and once they are done he again reverts back to his usual self.

When they were younger both the boys were friendly. I hear from other boys that this boy had been doing the same thing to another boy last year.

My son is upset. That boy's mother is known to me. I dont want to complain to the teachers. I have told my son to ignore it and be a tough boy. After that he has stopped telling me anything but he looks more miserable day by day and other boys are telling me that he is till being pagued by him.

I talked to the boy gently and told him that if my son had done anything to upset him, I will handle it. I have offered to take them all out on a small trip. The boy accepted in front of me but complained to his mother, who rang up and told me that my son should learn to cope with these issues and not bring them to me. She says we should leave the children to sort it out themselves. The boy also told my son that I was a liar. I have told my son to hold his temper.

All this is affecting my son's grades. Iam open to my son's faults and keep correcting him. But that boy's mother is quite sure that the boy is not wrong that I should keep out of it.

I really dont know how to proceed. How can I help my son without unduly getting that boy into trouble?

  • My 10 year old child is being taunted in school?

My son is very intelligent and active. He has just entered sixth grade. For the past 3 weeks he has been getting into trouble with teachers for not being very organised and disciplined. This has made his class mates make fun of him. Each day during lunch one boy will ask the others as to who hates my son and they all raise their hand. He is miserable. This is making him aggressive which in turn is not helping him at all. We have advised him to just concentrate on his work but his misery is killing us Please help.

  • need help regarding plumbing?

I just got my bathroom redone with new plumbing (pvc) lines and tiling done.?

Today, when finally the carepenter was supposed to attach a corner unit, he hit a plumbing line by mistake. The water seeped through the walls dripping. This continued for a couple of hours. The plumber then came and repaired the line by breaking the tile and then fixing it. The leaking has stopped. But the outer wall still shows the moisture from the leak. How long will this last and will it cause any damage to the concrete walls.

  • How can I help my son develop self control?

My son has just turned nine and is a very active bright boy. He scores well in school. But of late I found that he is getting complaints from school that he is using irrelevant words. I have told him that he is not to use such words. I know he is trying to control but when he is provoked he is again resorting to the same. His school work is also slightly coming down despite his efforts at home.

The way I see it my son now needs to motivate himself. He needs to know that even if Iam not there he should know the difference between good and bad and also be a bit more duty conscious. He needs to learn self control. Can anyone help me in this? Is this normal or should he get some professional help?

He is a kind boy and when I point out his mistakes, he does feel remorse (genuinely). But I dont know what happens when he goes to school.
