Was the realisation from 20 years of YA politics that we're all really the same, be it left or right, equal and worthy of respect?

Actually the American people realized Republicans don't respect anyone not swearing allegiance to the GOP!

No.

After doing YA Politics for 15 years, I've lost a huge amount of respect for the ones who know they are lying and peddling hate. 

And I admit, I've lost some respect for those who do not recognize they are being manipulated and lied to by the media.  I mean come on, many of us knew the stories of Trump-Russia collusion and Russian Bounties and any number of other anti-Trump stories were complete bull.  Yet tens of millions of Democrats believed them.
