In Ontario, would making your cottage your primary residence affect insurance?
With the pandemic, I have switched to working from home, so I am spending most of my time at the cottage. This will be a permanent change as my office has since downsized accordingly.
I'm considering making it my primary residence, but I'm curious what impact (if any) that would have on the insurance.
To be clear, I was referring to property insurance.

NO difference the home is insured not the people living in it - it could lower it since you are there all the time and would have a chance to thwart any issues (leaking water, home invasion, electrical problem that could cause fire etc) in a timely manner.
Best way to find out is to CALL your insurance agent. You may be bringing more or better personal items to the cottage and want to up the replacement value at some point.

It wouldn't have an "impact" because an "impact" is a collision. It may have a affect though.
Cute, made up wannabe words have no place in proper grammar

It shouldn't matter at all as Cottage is not in the City so less traffic where you is at. Ask, as they will have questions and NEEDS that you got to explain to them. Nothing major.
