Is it stupid if I get a Non-Driver ID license instead of a driver license at DMV?
I don't plan to drive at all, I don't own a car and can use the bus for work.

What you are looking for can be got at City Hall in your city. Tell them you want picture ID so you can get into bars and nightclubs and strip joints. This is LEGIT ID...and about the same size as a driver's license. It is Photo I.D. It will cost a few bucks. No different that DMV, nothing is free.

No. Its always good to have some sort of Govt. issued photo ID. To write checks, etc. I had no DL for ten years, relied on a state ID. Worked just as well.

In such circumstances, it's getting a driver's licence that would be stupid. Getting valid government-issued ID is a sensible thing to do for anyone over 16.

You don't need to pass any tests to get a state ID. To get a driver's license you need to be able to drive, which involves testing and driving and other things.
An adult needs identification, unless you are wanting to vote. Then it's some kind of unAmerican notion to need ID.

Do whatever is right for you. There is no single right nor wrong answer that applies to everyone...

You do need some kind of a state issued ID.
Whether you should go for the driver's license is your decision. Keep in mind that if you do NOT do the license you do not have to option of driving (legally) in an emergency, etc.
Also many businesses want to have your ID on file. It is possible that if you only have an ID card that they could (mis)interpret that to mean that you license is suspended. Usually that is for DUI related incidences. Or in some states for failure to pay child support. That could cause them to be prejudice against you.
But it is cheaper and easier. So if you want to go that way, then do it.

If you are not planing on driving. Then you would have to get a state ID
NO it isn't stupid at all.
At least your DMV is open. Here in Michigan it is only taking online appointments which are 3 months out.
