Questions for preschool teachers/aides?
Hello, I’m new to working with kids
I’m curious how other aides /teachers handle certain scenarios in the classroom
I’m still a student learning
How would you handle an upset parent
Example what if a parent is upset that her child was hit by another or is constantly getting hit by another child
How to handle two kids fighting
How do you handle a coworker that maybe you don’t really get along with
If you can share any other scenarios that you think are common and are important please share

Did you not get any training? OR an orientation when you were hired? Most schools have policies about how to handle children who are hitting each other- that may include time outs or isolation. If one child is constantly hitting another, the thing to do is to deal with that situation. Nothing you say to a parent is going to help if their child keeps being hit. In extreme situations, the school expels the child who is doing the hitting. If there's been an individual, isolated incident, you assure the parents that you are keeping an eye on it, and that the child who hit has been dealt with.
Work is not school. You get along with co-workers in a professional way. You don't need to like them. If they're doing something to damage your work with the children, you go to the director. But you don't get upset over little slights or hurt feelings.
