Unlocking Autism?

So I have Aspergers, which is a form of autism. I am a shy person and would like to be a more social person. Any tips on that would be great, however what the purpose for this question is I want to learn how to use it to my advantage. I am highly aware of the things going on around me and such, but I know that people with autism can unlock something in them and become extremely smart. What are some ways to open myself up and use this "disability" to my advantage. I should also note I have adhd, and therefore have a very hard time focusing.

practice, practice, practice is your only hope.  "shy" implies that a person dislikes new situations and you get over those by making them familiar situations.  -- grampa [married 32 years to Professor of Sp. Ed.]
