How do people tell I am autistic by looking at me?

People usually call me retarded (in case it gets censored: ret*rded), but is it just that people see my autism?

Update:

When I'm not rocking back and forth, pacing in circles, or reading with my pencil eraser tapping my book, I thought I look normal.

My walk is weird looking and fast, my arms stiff and down at  my sides, and my head kind of down other times level to the ground, but apparently people think it's too high. But I thought people can't see autism.

Update 2:

Just go somewhere anon, you're a ***** without realizing it. :/

The reason people react to you is because you engage in a lot of stereotypical movements that are one of the more obvious signs of an Autism spectrum disorder. Body rocking, pacing, tapping your pencil, flapping your hands, fidgeting constantly- those are signs that people who are educated about Autism will look for. The fact that you have such a strange way of moving is another sign that you are Autistic.

You can train yourself not to do these behaviors, but it will take a lot of time and patience on your part, and you will need the help of a professional to be successful at this. The behaviors as a group are referred to by the term "stimming". They're a form of self-soothing which most Autistic people engage in at some point.

People shouldn't be calling you "retarded", period, because that's demeaning and a slur. It's as bad as calling someone of African descent the N word. You aren't intellectually disabled,  you have an Autism spectrum disorder, and there's a huge difference between the two. ID and Autism CAN occur together, however. Have you had your IQ tested?
