What is the purpose of shutting down Yahoo Answers? This venue was a valuable source for people to speak freely.?
I have viewed YA as a valuable tool to educate many people on divergent perspectives and now there will be nowhere where people can discuss today's problems person to person.
I don't get it. Yahoo doesn't have enough money to run an app? They couldn't throw a commercial or two on the margins. because there is a lot of margins?

The venue didn't exist for people to "speak freely" it was a VERY abused Q&A site that hasn't generated enough revenue to support itself in quite a while. Since it has no value to Verizon Media, they are ending it instead of continuing to spend money to support a forum overrun by trolls and site abusers.
