What happens if a horse accidentally bites you when you are trying to feed it?

Lesson learned I hope. Just be careful next time. If you are feeding by hand then it might have a problem with that. If you are feeding it treats like carrots then keep your hand flat and stiff with the treat in your palm. If you are trying to give it some hay then teach your horse the back and wait command. My horse knew the word back up and he would back up and wait when asked while I was throwing his meal in his paddock feeder bin. Feeding any animal by hand is risky and should be different for each and every animal.

First, realize that it probably wasn't an accident.

Second, be more careful in the future.

If it happens again, be ready to discipline the horse.  If you don't know how, get a trainer.

You feel pain. You always feed a horse with the flat of your palm.
