Lab leak Covid-19 theory is like something out of a comic book, virologist says – OK science promoters, which scientists am I to believe? ?

Article: https://www.msn.com/en-us/health/medical/lab-leak-...

-Last week, former US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention Director Dr. Robert Redfield added his voice to those saying the virus most likely leaked from a laboratory in China …

-This week, Dr. Robert Garry of Tulane University says, the virus carries all the messy hallmarks of nature and none of the fingerprints that would have been left behind by laboratory manipulation. "What are the things that argue against a lab leak? There are a whole lot of them," Garry told CNN.

But, he like Redfield, presented no evidence to back up his assertion.

Where are all those people telling us to believe in science? Am I to believe only the one you want me to?

You go with the evidence and Occam's Razor. The WHO team found no evidence for the "escape from a lab" hypothesis, although they didn't rule it out. OTOH, the virus is relatively common in nature (bats) and can spread to other animals. Natural occurrence fits all the data and does not require you to make assumptions. That is the most parsimonious explanation. Leave the lab explanation to Trump and the people even more ignorant than he. [Yes, they DO exist.]

Aww, so you have to decide if you believe that the most potent disease unleashed in the past 30 years was a deliberate or a natural consequence of either humans or bats.  Tough choice, eh?  I guess it falls to you to decide if humans are fundamentally pernicious or if nature is.

The general consensus I see is that this is a natural virus.

I wonder at the motive of those who claim it is a genetically engineered virus.
