What do you think about Peacock removing 'racially driven imagery or storylines' from the WWE Network content?

It's a smart move why invite controversy over racism. Plus it's not like that is gone forever people can easily YouTube it or look it up online

Rowdy Roddy Piper was a popular babyface when he painted half of his body black. Bad News Brown was the heel. I can't recall Brown ever working as a 'face during his run in the WWF.

As to your question, the WWE is trying to be more racially sensitive to African Americans in the wake of George Floyd. A black face gimmick could have racial undertones behind it. 

But as a customer, you should be allowed to see Piper vs. Bad News in its entirety. WWE could've posted a disclaimer instead of outright censorship. You could try All Out of Bubblegum youtube channel which features Piper's promos and segments. 

It's not cool. They should leave these segment alone and put a message warning about racially sensitive content. It will be a whole lot better.

That's only the beginning unless you think a lot of the racy content that WWE did during The Attitude Era and The Ruthless Aggression Eras will stand up to scrutiny?  That check from Comcast-NBC/Universal cleared so they will do what they want. I agree with others who have suggest provide disclaimers and warnings and provide backstory and storyline explain the where and why of the controversial segments.

It's stupid. Racist heels worked in the WWF or any racist commentary. Its entertainment. 

At this rate they will be editing out tatanka, bobby the brain, the sheik, and I'm not going to say more because I hope they miss most of it. 

There was a heel who refused to wrestle non whites and he was my favorite wrestler in another company. It was a gimmick though unfortunately. 

There was a lot of storylines that wouldn't fly to day. Pretending it never happened isn't the way to go. It's not hard to put a disclaimer before the event. There are more offensive things in Peacock's library than any of the segments WWE has ever done. Peacock has a movie called Imperium. Which is about an undercover FBI agent that infiltrates a neo-Nazi group. How is painting half of your body black more offensive than neo-Nazis? If you're going to remove content that includes offensive imagery, you need to keep that same energy for the rest of your library.

I think it's trying to cover up history and arguably is a bad thing. I agree with adding a message warning about racially sensitive content but removing it is wrong. How can we learn from the mistakes of yesterday if we pretend yesterday didn't exist.
