I've taken trips at times when I lived alone. It wasn't a matter of being brave; it was something that interested me.

No. That is completely ignorant. I will go off and maybe only alert one trusted person but to tell absolutely no one is a death wish...especially if you're going far. I wouldn't do so unless I planned to die.
But if you really want to It's not hard to just pick up and go. Just let go of your excuse of why not.
