Why is Naproxen easing my IBS pain?
I have had IBS with constipation since I was a teen and this is the first thing to help . My doctor prescribed them for muscular aches though .
I talked it through with a pharmacist .

It's a pain killer and relaxes muscles. It works on any part of the body.

it is an anti-prostaglandin. Prostaglandins cause the spasmodic pains of menstruation and other processes. I would guess intestinal spasms of IBS are lessened by naproxen.

Naproxen is not good for the intestines

Not suppose to be using it with IBS, you doc shouldn't have prescribed them either. IBS and NSAID do not play nice in the long run.

It's a pain reliever...
it doesn't pick and choose what pain to concentrate on .
However, realize that you need to be eating pumpkin or something to keep the constipation at bay. Hiding the pain doesn't get rid of the constipation.

Naproxen, sold under the brand name Aleve among others, is a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) used to treat pain, menstrual cramps, inflammatory diseases such as rheumatoid arthritis, and fever. It is taken orally. It is available in immediate and delayed release formulations. Onset of effects is within an hour and last for up to twelve hours. en.wikipedia.org
