Tick noise in triton engines?

Can you please share your knowledge with me about the ticking noise in the 5.4 triton engines? I have a 2000 Ford Expedition 5.4 XLT and it ticks during driving. The vehicle has 200k miles on it. Thanks in advance.

Update:

The timing chain and the intake manifold were changed 6 months ago. Thanks.

The triton engines are known for timing phasers (cam timing actuators) that go bad.  Not a cheap repair.  It should have been replaced when the timing chain was replaced.  Good luck.

Most ticking is bad cam gear adjustment or wear. With hydraulic cams an oil change may solve the problem unless the gear is badly worn. Use fully synthetic oil and see if it improves. Other than that a good mechanic should be able to diagnose it. But after 200k miles I am surprised it only ticks!
