Why do people call me “sir” if I am not even that old and they are the same age as me?

I am offended

The Filipinos I have worked with have always referred to other men as "sir", so I guess it's a sign of respect and/or acceptance of others.

They were raised with respect.  Smile and thank them....respect has nothing to do with age and if you earn respect...then smile

I was called Sir as a child - it is an address of respect and derives from "sire" which is usually reserved for people of high social status.  Perhaps you'd prefer to be called "peasant" or "peon"?

No one has the right to not be offended.  Perhaps you would prefer to be referred to as "sir" vice "dork".

What?  You're a guy and you're offended?   Ohhhh Kay.  Whatever.

Really? Are you serious? 'Sir' is the proper form of address for an adult male, regardless of age. If you are over 18, then you are supposed to be treated like an adult, and that includes people addressing you politely as 'sir'.

If you expect everyone to address you as 'bro', 'dude' and 'man' like you're some kind of perpetual frat boy, then you probably should ask yourself why you're so damn immature and reluctant to grow up and live in the adult world.

At Ecclesiastes 7:9, the Bible states: “The taking of offense is what rests in the bosom of the stupid ones.” This verse shows that we should not be overly sensitive when someone offends us; rather, we should be forgiving.

Being offended seems to be the new pandemic that is far more contagious than Covid.

But unlike covid, no vaccine is necessary ....just grow the F *** up.
