Should the GOP realize today was worse for them than for the Democrats? they have assured that their party will not win for a generation?

They should realize that it was a big loss for the future of the GOP. McConnell was aware of that, which is why he made it clear at the end that he was against 

trump's behavior and knew he was guilty, even though he voted for acquittal. Have cake and eat it too? "We acquit, but do not associate my GOP with his behavior". 

Yeah, but Nancy calling them Cowards won't sit well with Republicans either. 

The gop has also assured that all future presidents can now do as they please during their last weeks in office with no fear of consequences.  Biden is up next, so the gop can cry me a river if he does anything you don't like when he wraps up his presidency.
