Countries? It serves little justice to terminate thousands of jobs from a resource that allowed us to be Independent, (there's that dirty word again),  when we are going to be more independent on Fossil Fuels from our enemies , (Communist nations, Socialist Nations) ?

The country learned its not feasible to supply vehicles with battery cell powering 320 million units thatxwould normally utilize fossil fuels.  Unless we focus on other green environmentally oriented resources, we are only cutting off nose to spite face

No one really knows why he killed it. The first excuse is the environmental one. But even the left have given up on that. Both of Obama's environmental impact studies state that it is better then the current rail system being used to bring it on down. Some say jobs, but leave out all the refining and port jobs, along with all the support jobs. That it would have permanently created.  So basically, no one really knows unless you listen to the supposed consperiacy people. Who claimed he killed as part of the lefts attack on fossils, trying to force not only the US but the globe. To shift towards more green by jacking up the cost of fossil.

Cancelling the Keystone Pipeline eliminates about fifty full time jobs. Fifty.
 
Meanwhile, that oil still has to be transported from Canada to Texas which requires truck drivers, train conductors, and all the support staff that goes along with it.

the keystone pipeline was for canadian tar sand oil to be shipped to texas for refinement then EXPORTED to china . it never was for domestic use . never .
