Are pros picks in the program worth betting?

Update:

I have been dabbling in harness racing (as in two buck bets) lately. As a beginner, should I maybe just start with what pros suggest until I get my own handicapping game together? Or are those tips "stale" by the time they make it into the program?

You could go with the pros picks, however, most are trying to get the most bang for their buck rather than actually picking the most talented horse to win. The horse that is the most talented is known as the favorite. (The horse with the lowest odds is the favorite). Anything can happen in horse racing. I suggest doing paper bets for now, in other words play for fun for awhile, by either picking the pros or your own picks to test the waters so to speak. It's not called gambling for nothing. In the end, the core of the game comes down to four basic questions: Which horses are fast enough to win? What is the likely pace scenario? Which horses have a better chance of winning than their odds suggest? And what is the racetrack bias? Handicapping is definitely a skill you learn over time, it's a process. Best to start out by just enjoying the sport (without the betting pressure) before diving in. Either way good luck!!
