Should I report it to the police if I was threatened in San Fran ?

I was verbally threatened by a stranger on the street this afternoon while visiting San Francisco from afar. A man approached me closely and shouted “what b*tch? Stop taking pictures before I slap your f*ggot azz n*gga!” I had my phone out when he approached me but I wasn’t using the camera. Fortunately there was no physical contact, but I was scared and I still feel mental distress now. As I was running away, I could hear him shouting at me to come back and calling me a b*tch and the N word. I’m not from big places and I was wondering if I should still file a police report. Unfortunately I do not exactly remember what he looked like.

No, you should not report this to the police.   If you can't remember what he looked like they couldn't find him.  Just being called names is not a crime.

I have a feeling there are many details missing from your "story" or that it is completely fictional.

No, there is no point.  If you don't know who he was or even what he looked like, then there is nothing the police can or will do.  You aren't in danger now (and probably weren't really in danger then), so there is no need for a police report.
