How do the alphabet belts still have value?
Considering all of the controversy and scandals the WBA, WBC, IBF and WBO have been through, how do they still exist and why do people seem to value their belts?

I personally don't, I've been calling for Fury vs AJ next, I'm happy if they both drop their belts and just give us the fight, we the fans decide on who's the number 1 heavyweight in the world and belts or no belts we all agree that the winner of those two if they fight next, is undisputed.
But I will say that it's probably because of who's held the belts in the past is why fighters more than fans place importance on the belts. When you look at the welterweights, lightweights, heavyweights etc. that have held the WBC and WBA titles before as a fighter you want your name added to that list so you can say you held the same title as Ray Leonard or Floyd Mayweather etc.

I would say it's partly money and power and partly because they've been around so long that they're now considered prestigious to have. U mention those 4 belts but I can remember the WBO when they first started around about 89 an noone really respected their belt. They didn't really start to be considered on a par with those other belts till about the mid 2000s. So much of what they do is tainted by money and politics, but I think it is still very prestigious to have one of their belts.
