I received an email today saying announcing the shut down of Yahoo
Groups. Does this affect my emails. Will I no longer be able to send
or received emails?
Please helpl me.

I want to access my yahoo group & can't seem to do it. Why As a group owner, why didn't I receive notification that the groups were closing down.

I don't know what is a 'Yahoo Group' - and presumably because I'm not on the Group, I haven't received this message. I hope Yahoo Mail will remain as I'm happy to use it as an alternative messaging service, should my main service mess up.
I suppose this closure may be a prelude to closing Yahoo for good however.

Yes you probably are part of some yahoogroup, or you wouldn't have gotten the message.
If you have a yahoo-email-account you will still be able to use it.

Yahoo email is NOT shutting down. Only the Yahoo Groups are shutting down on October 21 and will be terminated, or not accessible after December 14.
Could you please give a link to that Yahoo email in an update to your question. I am unsure of the reliability of this article:

This does not affect your regular email use.
If and only if you were a moderator or member of a Yahoo Group will you have any impact at all.
