1970s band named “Hot Chocolate”: how is this not incredibly racist?

There is a well-known 1970s band named “Hot Chocolate”.  Its songs include “Every 1’s a Winner” and “You Se_y Thing”.

The group is African-American.

Isn’t it incredibly racist to use the name “Hot Chocolate”?

Update:

The name was picked in the context of a majority-white racist society.

No, they're British, NOT American.   I would suggest you learn things before you post idiocies.

No it's not racist. Are you overly sensitive are are you just a trouble maker?

You are just trying to stir up trouble. Better know your music history. No one in this section is falling for what you are trying to do.

There was also a band called Hot Butter.

Are you going to try and claim that's biased against lactose- intolerant people?

A name is just a name.

Surely it wasn't racist because they chose the name of the band themselves. And aren't they still around?

It was just the name of a band. Period. People weren't such snowflakes back then.

it's not racist, if they picked the name themselves.

No. How does a hot beverage have anything to do with race?

I presume you're trolling but just to correct you:

Hot Chocolate were a British band (from London). My favourite single was No Doubt About It.
