Which would better to vacation to? Australia or South America? ?

Flying from Midwest US. For Australia, we would like Sydney. For South America we would like Buenos Aires and Rio de Janeiro. Probably fly around summer time. June, July, or August (winter in AUS). We like to see some of the iconic monuments in either continent (Opera House, Christ the Redeemer). Which would be better?

I would say Australia would be safer as South America can tend to have a lot of crime from my understanding.  Maybe it is safe for tourists in the touristy parts of their capitals it may be ok but that dos not leave much chance to travel around.

If willing to travel a little outside the city the best time to travel in Australia is likely from early September through to November during the spring .  Do not travel into the tropical north of Australia after October as the humidity can be severe and very uncomfortable.  If you plan to see central Australia come between May to September as daytime temperatures there during the summer can be mid 40s and higher Celsius  which is well over 100 degrees Fahrenheit and deadly for the unprepared.  If you came in the summer time maybe states like Victoria and Tasmania may be better as they tend to be cooler overall during the summer.  Queensland is better visited during our winter especially up north as the temperatures tend to be very comfortable and little rain and humidity problems.

Depends. Australia at the most as there’s less crime. South America has a fair bit of crime. I would go to only parts of Brazil and Colombia, but most places in the Andes and I’d go to the ‘guay’ countries. Avoid Venezuela, parts of Brazil and Guyana though. Stay in the cities in the Colombian departments of Arauca, Cauca, Chocó, Nariño and Norte De Santander due to crime and terrorism

Less chance of getting mugged in Australia and you won't get scammed as much because if Aussies see another Aussie trying to scam someone they will bash the sh!t out of them for being a trailer trash bogan

The CV Virus is still active in South America and has been stopped cold in Australia.

    You decide.

In terms of violent crime rates you're far better off visiting Australia.  Places Rio De Janeiro resemble places like Detroit, places like Sydney resemble the Midwest US.

It depends on what you want, which no one here on YA can possibly know.
