Has anyone been asked advice on buying a gun lately?
I’ve had two people. One is a neighbor that lives on the street parallel to mine. The other is a doctor that is not mine but a friend of a friend. I have no problem giving them advice but the problem is you can’t find damn anything right now. I went to one of my local stores and they were all out of shotguns and semi automatic rifles. All they had left were a few handguns, 1911’s, lever actions and revolvers. I go to the Cabela’s in my state to get a scope and the same thing there. Except they have a bit more in stock because they have so much naturally.
Nice thing is now that I’ve bought all the tools I can assemble AR-15’s from partsWhich apparently is the only way to actually get one now.

A friend of my sons, whom he works with called me and asked for my help in firearm decisions. My son asked me if I minded first and then gave the guy my number. My son helped him as much as he could first and then passed the buck to me. We ended up on a three way call and decided on the right pistol rifle combo for him. The trouble is what you're running into, lack of inventory. No one has any, everyone is sold out.

Yeah same here, my dad is really wanting to get something for concealed carry as well as a home defense shotgun and I am having a ridiculously hard time helping him, not to mention when you do find something, its like twice as expensive as it should be right now. Sadly right now just seems to be the worst time to purchase. either you jump on the first one you find and overpay for it or just play the waiting game for everything to go back to normal and who knows how long that will be. either way, used guns seem to be the best way to go right now

It's too late to give advice because it is too late to prepare. The time to prepare is BEFORE a crisis hits. People like your neighbor and that doctor have been living in an imaginary world where the law protects everyone, there are never any shortages in a crisis, and everybody behaves in a courteous considerate law abiding manner.
And you are not doing yourself any favor by making it known to all in your neighborhood that you have the necessary implements and supplies to keep yourself safe. Who do you think is the most enticing target for thieves, looters, and other criminals in your area?Even thought you are armed, are you going to stay awake 24x7 and never go buy groceries?

I live near a town of about 20,000 population. The local gun shop still has guns and ammo. During normal times they have 10 times as many guns as independent gun stores even in large cities. A guy I work with has been thinking about getting a hand gun and came over the other day and we shot 4 different semi auto handguns in 4 different calibers, 22.r, 380, 9mm, and 45.
