That depends on whether the market is right when it predicts the government cannot prevent the virus from spreading rapidly and creating a loss of business. What caused the market to start plunging was the understanding that the Trump administration was completely unprepared and in full denial of the need to act, which would lead to what we see today: empty businesses unable to serve customers becauase of the risk to staff and client alike.

We wasted three months, and had fired the very people who were supposed to be preparing for the next pandemic because it was Obama/Biden's intiative. That is why the market knew that there would be a dramatic plunge in business. This is very much a Trump recession, and how long it lasts depends on whether Congress and state governments can get on with the President's job for him. Of course, that requires he stay out of their way. Can he do that?

There is not going to be a recession. Trump handed over I don't know how many billions for research on a vaccine and they are already testing 1 in Seattle. The Economy will be fine. Trump told the Governors to start buying a lot of ventilators ahead of time so we can get everyone through it but once it passes we will recover.
