Is two weeks enough time to visit both Spain and Portugal? I'm just super excited about this trip it's overwhelming! Lol.?

So I'm a female in my late 20's from New York and will be traveling solo to Europe to bring in the New Year 2020 (I've travelled solo twice before but to different country in the Middle East). Anyway, I will be flying from NY to Lisbon, Portugal on Sunday, Dec 29 and flying back from Barcelona, Spain on Tuesday, Jan 14. Between that time I wanted to visit as many nearby cities as possible within the two countries (7-8 days in the two countries). I even wanted to take the Rail from Portugal to Spain so I can see the scenery, but I read that's like a 9-14hr trip! I might change my mind and go to Spain by plane. Anyway, I wanted to stay in ONE hotel in each of the two countries and just make day trips to the different cities If I have to go back twice, I have time to kill. Is this realistic? I need help planning out an itinerary. I do have a list of the cities I want to see. I'm mostly into seeing the architecture, trying the food and wine, sightseeing, talking to new people here and there, museums, shopping etc. Not crazy about party/ night life.

Portugal: Lisbon| Porto| Coimbra| Sintra

Spain: Madrid| Barcelona| Granada| Seville

What would you recommend? Really, it's just an exploration/ sightseeing vacation. If you see a flaw in my plan please let me know. I really don't know much about Europe and visiting two countries in one vacation will be a new adventure for me.

Thank you so much! Also, if you have advice on weather and New Year's Eve ideas let me know too!

It's enough time to see 2 cities - but you won't see the whole of the 2 countries as well.

From Lisbon it's certainly feasible to do a few day trips, likewise Barcelona; but think about how much time you want to spend on trains moving around, and how much time actually spending doing / seeing things

We just did this itinerary in June. But we went with a TAUCK t

our and cruise. It was expensive, but we saw incredible things that are not easy to get to on your own.  Took about 650 photos, mainly art and architecture.  It is to late for you to sign up even if you wanted to - but go look at their itinerary, and get an idea of how they  routed everything.

Two weeks is 14 days. Of course you can visit for that long. You will not see it all.

you can do the express watch stuff out the window as your ride the train or window shop.

If you want to stop and actually go inside and explore a bit it takes time.

Do you visit a Museum for twenty minutes or few hours YOUR CHOICE.

Plan on two to three places of interest per day. Shall we all guess if you want to sit for an hour at some lunch stop to people watch or you grab a sandwich and keep walking.

You can spend lots of time just looking out the window as you travel place to place. Up to you if you want to explore this or that place of interest for a few hours.

What time do you expect to save flying? You need to get to the Airport wait to board and then get from next Airport to your sleeping place.Hauling your stuff along the way to and from the Airports.

In your situation train would make more sense. No reason you must go the entire distance in one go. You can stop along the way for a day or two. To explore the local things near your stopping place.

Urge you to plan and reserve your first nights sleeping place and your last nights sleeping place no need to be rushing around your last night looking for a place to sleep near the Airport and your flight home.

Do you expect someone to give you a train schedule for each stop and the places to explore . YOU figure it out.

No one can guess if you are an early riser eager to explore or you like to delay and go out later in the day.

Enjoy your visit. Suggest you use a HUMAN travel Agent that specializes in the areas of your interest to help arrange some of your adventure,

Two weeks is enough time to visit a maximum of three cities. Even then all you will be able to do is scratch the surface of cities like Lisbon, Madrid, and Seville.

Spain is too large to do day trips to Barcelona, Granada, and Seville from Madrid.

Yeah should be easy to do , as you know they are land locked so you just leave one when you have seen enough and switch to the other .
