About an American person who worked in Japan.?

In order to collect the Japanese social security checks this person is asked to provide a document that shows proof of residency ( I think they mean a paper that show that this person lives exactly were she says she live?) Living near Dallas , Texas do you know what document one should get and were to get it?

I just called Japanese Social Security, and they said a copy of a tax return is sufficient.

LOL!  Why would the government of Japan ask a US citizen for proof of their residence in the US?  No, and I lived in Japan for over 40 years.  The person is being asked for proof of residence in Japan, and if the persons does not have an up-todate resident card, that is evidence that the person does not reside in Japan.

The standard proof of address is a utility bill in your name or a rental agreement/mortgage.

Utility bill, lease or rent bill, phone bill, etc.

A lease and utility bills with your name and address should do it. Utility bills are usually what they require for proof of residence, at least in the US. They might mean proof of residence in Japan, in which case you would have to send something like utility bills, lease, or your national health insurance bills to them from when you were living there.
