Once QEII’s reign ends, how long will it take the palace to announce whether Camilla will use the title “Her Majesty Queen Camilla”?

    Right away.

Women automatically assume titles and styles of their husbands; if protocol is to be broken, an explanation will be given.

  • I don't think they'll make an announcement about it, they will just make reference to the new King and Queen Consort. Just slip it in, sly like!

HM is still alive - why hasten her demise?

Whatever happens with her titles styles and rank, it will have to be announced pretty quickly as she will not be the The Duchess of Cornwall when her stepson becomes the Duke of Cornwall and thus a distinction will be needed between Camilla and Catherine.

If they (Charles & Camilla, and possibly the accession council {their input can be given to the decision, but doesn’t have to be followed}) decide it appropriate and acceptable for her to be titled and styled in the customary manner as Queen Consort, then no announcement would be made.

If it is decided that she will remain a Princess by marriage an announcement would most likely be made the same day as the accession proclamation. If it’s decided that she needs to be created a Princess in her own right, then the Letters Patent would be issued within a week of the accession.
