Is Saint Maartin a safe place to vacation?

It is safe enough, as order is kept by the mafia on the Dutch side of the island and the Foreign Legion on the French side. So no general riots and insurrections every time they get hit by a storm, but there is a strip a mile long selling gold and fake gold tat to cruise tourists in the main harbour. What sort of persons do you think are going to be attracted to an island full of wealthy day visitors in the Caribbean? Watch yourself.

Apparently it depends on which airplane you fly in. And a few other things could also go wrong. But, on average, it's no better or worse than anywhere else.
