Can my landlord take my room key ? I have not paid Jan and Feb . Will pay him but can he ask me for the keys to the room and house ?

Hello there. Please HELP. I am so terrified. He said he'll call the cops to take me out of the house. And he's asking for my keys now. He lives in the same house. I have no where to go.

    ABSOLUTELY!!!

If you don't pay up he can/will evict you. Your financial issues are creating financial issues for him too.

He can evict you, but there are laws that have to be followed. He can't just take your keys and kick you out without going through the eviction process. Depending on where you live, it might take several months.

He sure as hell can. You're a freeloader and irresponsible. If you lived in a home that I owned you'd be gone by now. He rented to you for the extra income, not more problems.

The time is clearly passed for you to pay if he wants you out.

Unlikely the cops will get involved. He can ask for the keys as you would owe a third month since tomorrow

    is March.

If you haven't paid rent for 2 months then he can do whatever

It is his house, you are a SQUATTER, you have not paid rent, your lack of other places to stay is YOUR PROBLEM, not your unpaid landlords. My suggestion? Get your stuff out, hand him the keys and go couch surf with willing friends until you have rent to pay, otherwise, head for the nearest Salvation Army and get you a cot! Once you hand him the keys, it does not suspend your obligation to still pay your back rent. However, once you hand him the keys, you will have no way to enter and retrieve your belongings. Put them in your car and bring a blanket and a pillow, you might be there a while! What have you done with your money?

Just pay your rent, you owe him. If you are having financial issues ty having a discussion with him to make an arrangement to pay it off otherwise he has the right to evict you.

That is not his problem. He has bills to pay.
