Are countries that have a monarchy backwards countries.?

    Yes, England, Saudi Arabi, Thai land etc, all backwards.

    I hardly call Australia, New Zealand, Canada and Japan backwards.

    As long as there is poverty in countries which have a monarchy, the people are backwards because they haven't got their priorities right, and except getting ripped off on a regular basis.

    by and large...

    the ones where the royals have real power are backwards

    the ones where the royals only have a ceremonial function are not

    They are antiquated backward-looking countries. They pine for a long-ago past and idolise royalty that no longer serves a valid purpose.

    The U.K, Japan, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Holland, Denmark, Norway, Sweden and more, so, SO backward! One day they will move out of their caves and into mud huts with all mod cons. Who knows, maybe one day, one of them will invent the wheel.

    Oh, yes, the Scandinavian countries and Japan are extremely backward.

    A Constitutional Monarchy, say like the UK, can be fairly civilized and produce good results. Totalitarian Monarchies rarely are (sorry Saudi Arabia, I'm looking at you).
