Surfing in Winter?

My brother and I are going to start surfing now and it happens to be in the Winter months. Could someone please tell me when the best time of day to surf is and if just a wetsuit is enough or do I need other things with the wetsuit? Thanks.

    Winter has better waves. About the suit, it depends where you live

    Its good to surf during summer rather than winter and make sure to wear rushguard

    Depending on where you live a wetsuit might be fine. Otherwise, I would wait for warmer weather
