Pot Quandary?

When I was a teenager, and in my 20s, I smoked pot. Lots of it. I was high almost every day. But as I got older, it became less and less fun, so I generally stopped smoking the stuff, other than at a party, or hanging out with my old friends. But I looked forward to the day when pot was legalized, and vowed that when it did become legal, I was going to smoke my head off, even if it killed me. Now, here in Canada, weed is about to become legal, and I'm not that interested, even though there's a pot dispensary possibly opening a few blocks from me.

My real question is: should I smoke my head off, like I promised myself I would do, and get totally ripped for a weekend, or should I just walk by the planned pot store? I DID take a vow...

Let's begin by assuming the vow means nothing, because circumstances have changed.

I'd say buy a couple of grams and try it! Smoke a couple of times, or a few times, not all you can smoke but just until you're pleasantly high. See if you like it. If you can't smoke moderately and responsibly, then you shouldn't smoke.

I know pot is not physically addictive like heroin or tobacco. But it can be psychologically addictive. I wondered if it being legal would result in lots of people not able to handle it, who would just smoke and smoke until they got sick. Those people shouldn't use it.

Its disturbing that you'd even have to ask this question. Should you smoke your head off? If you really don't know, the answer is "no."

People do grow up, and decide they no longer want a unicorn at their birthday party.

You should read the many articles now available on the internet that detail what your previous pot experiences have done to your brain, as well as the articles about dementia and where people with it end up. If you are literate and still able to give this enough thought on your own, you might come to the conclusion that it is no longer a luxury you crave, and having those precious few brain cells you still have unscathed may be a greater gift.

But should you decide to smoke the MJ, take the unicorn, not the car.

Smoking your head off is just redefined in your maturity. Technically you smoke your head off at parties already, so there shouldn't be any difference. Personally when pot becomes legal where I live, I am not going to smoke my head off like I did in younger years, I am going to eat the cannabis edibles instead.

First, if you were a teenager you would NOT be in your 20s, so the pot thing for you may already be a moot point.

While you took a vow, first it is not legally binding, second, you PROBABLY took it under the influence so, again, not legally or even morally binding.
