to begin sudoku is so hard. i can find proper numbers at first to make puzzle more open. How to commit sudoku properly=

The first thing I do on a sudoku puzzle is go through the numbers either 1 through 9 or 9 through 1. I find all the 1s and see if there is an empty square that can only be 1. So if in the square going across, I have a 1 in the top, a 1 in the bottom, and only one empty square in the middle, that has to be a 1.
