Fellow Australians. How important to you is self control?

Update:

My friend gave a talk about the importance to use self control to improve your life. I know that we have to achieve balance. My family decided a few years back to not drink soft drinks if possible. This has worked well. We are also trying to eat lots more salads and fresh vegetables.

I think many Australians are doing this? Is this true?

Also I think it is important to use self control in spending money, talking on phone in front of friends etc.

I had anger problems many years ago caused by PTSD, very little self control, I sought help after my marriage broke down and I saw how my behaviour had affected my children, I haven't had a relapse in over 40 years, I had different exercises I had to do and they worked, my self control now is excellent, lack of self control can destroy you and the people around you.

Australians are not familiar with self-control. Racist remarks, punch drunk outbursts, foul language. Theses are the hallmarks of being Australian. Why would they give that up? Why would they want to be like people who are likeable and more genteel? An Australian with true self-control is like a fart with no odour: one does not exist.

I seem to be the only one in my household with any self control. I actively pursue it and don't find it onerous at all. It fits nicely with trying to live lightly on this planet and once you've done it for a while it self-perpetuates.

It's very important. I save myself from a spinal injury by not coming in here often, shaking my head at the right-wing bogan trash.
