Is the Canon PowerShot Elph 115 better than the 110?

Reason I'm asking is because I plan on shooting a low budget music video and reviews are pretty good on the 110. also can you suggest any other cheap camera options.

With video, they would exactly be the same. I advise you use a separate digital audio recorder for the sound or better yet, dub it in a noise-free environment or studio.

Here's a link showing the picture quality of the 110: http://www.dpreview.com/reviews/studio-compare?utm...

The S110 is going to be much better because it has a 1/1.7" sensor vs the smaller 1/2.3" sensor in the S115. The bigger the sensor, the better the image quality. Having more megapixels doesn't mean better image quality. In fact, on small sensors like these, more pixels means that the pixels must be smaller. Smaller pixels means lower dynamic range and much higher noise at all ISO settings.

Furthermore, the S110 can shoot RAW & JPEG files while the S115 is limited to only JPEGs. This will provide a huge advantage when editing your images since you loose about 95% of the information that the sensor recorded when converting a RAW into a JPEG.

The S110 has a superior lens. At 24-110 (35mm equivalent), the S110 has a wider-angle lens than the 28mm (35mm equivalent). At f/2-5.9 vs f/2.8-5.9, the lens allows 2x more light at the wide angle setting than the S115. This equates to 1-stop lower ISO setting when taking low-light shots resulting in better color, contrast and less noise.

The 430K dot screen on the S110 is, well, crap, but it's much better than the 240K dot LCD on the S115.

The S110 has wireless while the S115 does not.

While the S110 is a pretty good camera on paper, unfortunately it's no longer available unless you find one still in stock somewhere. A quick search found a few stores selling the S110 for an astronomical $400. Canon's website shows it retailed for $299.

The S110 was replaced by the Powershot S120. Here's a comparison of all three models: http://www.dpreview.com/products/compare/side-by-s...
