I work in Ga but live in Al... do i file a return for both states or is the deducted taxes split or something between the two?

just trying to see if my tax guy has been beating me out of my money because usually my state refund is $1

    You file for both states

    You file a state return for the state where you earned the income.

    You have to file 2 returns. Resident GA and non-resident AL. You will get all or partial credit on your resident return for the taxes you pay to AL.
