West Indies cricket team; balls hit out of ground?

I have two cricket questions:

(1) There is a "West Indies" cricket team but the West Indies is not a country. Which countries can team members be from? How does this work?

(2) Sorry, this might be a silly question. I noticed a ball hit out of the ground recently was caught by a spectator on the full. I take it this makes no difference to the score? The ball is simply out, right?

1)West Indies is not a country. It''s a group of small countries which are actually islands in the Caribbean. But in cricket, West Indies represent as a single team including all the countries which come under West Indies.

    These countries are :

    1) Jamaica

    2) Trinidad & Tobago

    2) Barbados

    3) St. Lucia

    4) Dominica

    5) Antigua & Barbuda

    6) Grenada

    7) Cayman Islands

    8) Montserrat

    9) St Vincent

    10) St Kitts

    11) St Christopher

    12) Turks and Caicos Islands

Any cricketer from these countries can play for West Indies.

    2) If a ball is caught out of the ground by a spectator or even by a player, it will be considered a 6.

West Indies was at times officially and unofficially recognised as a country up until the early 1960s, they can get their players from any of the following....

    Barbados

    Jamaica

    Trinidad & Tobago

    Leeward Islands

    Windward Islands

    Antigua & Barbuda

    Guyana

    Dominica

    Grenada

    St Lucia

    St Vincent

    St Kitts

And maybe a few other smaller islands and territories.

The West Indies is a group of Islands, so anyone that lives on those islands can play for the West Indies.

Once the ball is hit over the boundary on the full the batsman gets 6 runs scored, but it is out if an opponent player catches the ball on the full. Spectators actions have no bearing on the result at all.
