Why does my 250GB partition say 249GB used when there's nearly nothing on it?

Hardly used Laptop: ASUS K53E-BBR17

(bought at Pawn-shop)

Windows 7

Update:

First 3 answers missed the mark ------- There's no way something's taking up 249 gigs. Junk files doesn't use that. Only a ton of videos can fill that. Something's WRONG

That is usable space. The drive is formatted, and that takes space. Also due to entire sectors are allotted to each file, regardless of if the file even fills the space, there is a significant amount of waste on hard drives. On an average full hard drive about 10 to 20 percent of it is completely empty even if the empty space is unusable.
