What bitrate do I choose for importing from dvd-cam?

I calculated my camcorder footage at 6 mbps.(not sure that's correct), but on my converting software(aura), the options for bitrate for mpeg-2 are 256 through 1800(????). Where does 6

fit in?

6 Mbps is probably right, but the only options I can find for the bitrate are CBR v VBR in the audio settings. Where are you looking?

Thanks for the update - those bitrates are for the output, and the options depend on what format you've chosen. At first sight they don't make a lot of sense to me so I'd just go with the default. Try a short video clip to experiment with and see how high you need to go before you can't tell the difference.

why are you converting? dvd camcorders already record in Mpeg2, no conversion needed.
