Nathan- A really nice name, not too common but not too weird. Nice-sounding, yet not feminine. 9/10.

Thomas- Very cute and classic, although I prefer the spelling Welsh spelling. 'Tomos'. A nice name! 8/10.

Jack- Pretty classic, and nice and simple, but not a favourite. It's a nice choice though. 7/10.

James- I can understand the appeal of this name, but I personally find it snooty. I dislike it. 5/10.

Hamish- I really hate this name, and I'm not sure why. Possibly because of the 'ham'? 2/10.

Charlie- Aaw, so adorable! I really like this name, it's classic yet cute, nice yet not boring. 7/10.

Toby- One of the few perfect male names, in my opinion. Much nicer than the full name, Tobias! 10/10.

George- For some reason, I dislike this name. I can't put a finger on it, but I don't like it. 4/10.

Samantha- It's quite nice but not a favourite of mine. I don't really like feminised names that much. 6/10.

Annabelle- Very cute and sweet, but not a name that will mature. Still, it's lovely- I really do like it! 7/10.

Scarlett- A beautiful name that will mature well. It has some connotations, but I adore it. 9/10.

Grace- A gorgeous name with not a problem that I think of! However, I prefer it as a middle name. 9/10.

Natalie- Aw, so pretty and cute. I prefer the Russian version, 'Natalya', but it's still nice. 8/10.

Alyssa- I think it's quite pretty, but doesn't have the same vibe as most of the names here. 6/10.

Olivia- What a lovely name! I really think it's a brilliant, feminine, classy choice for a baby. 9/10.

Rhoslyn- I dislike this variant on the lovely name 'Rosalind'. That name would score higher. 4/10.

Good luck and congratulations to your friend!

I like the boy's names except Hamish and George. Hamish really depends on where you live. I had a really rotten Uncle George and that has turned me from the name.

I like the girl's names except Grace which I detest and Rhoslyn is simply awful.

Nathen - meaning "Given of God"

Thomas-Greek form of the Aramaic name (Ta'oma') which meant "twin".

Jack-Derived Jackin (earlier Jankin),a slang word meaning "from."

James-English form of Latin name "Iacomus".which was developed from the Greek version (Iakobos) of the Hebrew name "Ya'aqov"

Hamish-means "supplanter" it originates from a Scottish variation of James.

Charlie-an English name, From the Old English 'ceorl' meaning "man."

Toby-from the Middle English dialect a form of Tobias. Tobias is the Greek name of the Hebrew Toviah, meaning "to Good is Yahweh."

George- a Greek name. From the word 'georgos' meaning "tiller of the soil, or farmer."

If I were to choose any of the boy names you have listed I would pick Nathen because he of all the provided has the best meaning to his name. Also I really like the name Nathaniel which they could put as his full name.

Look on the sources for the girl name meaning. I can't fit it all here.

Source(s): Samantha: Hebrew name meaning, "listen; name of God" Annabelle-french name Amabel derived from the Latin word amābilis meaning "lovable" or from the Gaelic Ainè meaning "joy", Annabel's partly derived from Barabel, the Gaelic form of Barbara meaning "foreign woman" Scarlett- derived from an English surname meaning "someone who sold scarlet cloth." Grace-derived from the Latin 'gratia', meaning "God's favor." Natalie-derived from Latin name Natalia meaning"Christmas Day" Alyssa-usually derived from the name of the flower alyssum. Which Greek roots mean "not insane" or if you spell it "Elissa" it is likely a variant of the Phoenician name Elishat, meaning "wanderer". Olivia: Swedish meaning: "olive." Latin meaning: "symbol of peace" Rhoslyn- if spelled as Rosalind it means "beautiful rose" it was derived from the Latin words "Rosa Linda," but "Rhoslyn" is a welsh name meaning "moor valley." I really like all the ones you chose for a girl. They all are very beautiful. I'd have to go with Scarlett though just because I love that name and the actress In gone with the wind plays a character named Scarlett that I wanted to grow up to be when I was young. Hope the meanings of the names helped you pick which one you want.
