The right to die?

Why does the catholic church allow people to suffer, who have a terminal illness . Who are incapable of doing anything for themselves and want to take there own lives. To end a life that is non existent and a torment. It seems you must obey the rules of a church no matter how much you suffer. Is this not cruelty and lack of any compassion from the church? That is supposed to portray love and charity?

Update:

Yes I agree with you it is mostly the legality of who decides, who should die at their own request and the motivation of who chooses to give permission to take a life for what ever reason . That is in question. As we have property, money and wills to take into consideration, ( Motivation) and who if any benefits from this action. I do believe one should have the right to end ones life if they choose. Providing you are capable of making that decision with a clear mind. It is when someone else decides we have a problem,

Man has always had his own power to end his life .. the problem is when you are in a situation of legality when you become dependent on other to assist you in that task . Then everyone has a say ..man has been clever enough to find ways to end his life ... its when others are involved its a problem ...... Its called I don't want it on my conscious or the legal ramifications or religion says you don't have a right to do it .......Man can end his life any time he wishes its in his individual power you give or complicate that power when you include others ......If i have a terminal illness and not confined to a hospital . who now have the legal responsibility to keep me alive . unless I do a DNR or family gives permission to stop treatment . I have involved others in the equation ..... as a nurse of 35 years I know how to end my life with no assistance ...do i think others have a right to tell me i cant ...no but i would not ask their PERMISSION ...That is what the whole issue is about ... thats why its called ASSISTED suicide I don't need your PERMISSION its sad for the people who are in circumstances that are required to they are basically in a position of asking For Permission by asking for the means .. when you ask for PERMISSION your have given away your power they now have the ability to deny your request . so for anyone in that situation i say planning is the key DNR's living wills and privacy it is only because we have laws that prohibit assisted suicide because of legal ramifications , property . insurance policies usually all financial and prosecution . of persons assisting you . one can always find the means without expressing the intent , but many wait too long and become dependent on others or do not plan they use it as a public display to say I have a right to do this ..... you always had the right and the power to do so what you are actually asking for is to make it LEGAL for others to participate that should be a individual decision in reality the church has no power to stop me they only judge my actions and want to make public law ( Power/the authority to control my actions ) they in reality have no power ...people only have as much power over us as we allow them to

We don't have right to be born or not, at least we should have right to die. Happy are those who were never born.

I haven't heard a response yet, that makes any sense...

And why the religious seem to think that they should have a say in the lives of others, is sheer nonsense...

    IMHO

Seems to me this applies to every institution that thinks they have a say in someone else's life. The ONLY thing we all possess is the ability to say whether or not we want to continue to live. It's no-one else's business. Period.

the church is not responsible for the sufferings. many catholics expect to suffer in this life ,as jesus did for many . would you like to be in a road accident have minor injuries and euthanized to save hospital costs , this happens in many parts of Europe , the Netherlands being notorious for these actions , suffering sometimes brings strength

Religion should not be allowed to dictate what is good for the citizens of any country. In a democratic country, the law is made by the people for the benefit of the people.

Christianity is long suffering, it is the cost of following Jesus, but it is worth it.

We All have a terminal illness. You're missing the point.

The short answer is: because Jesus reserves the right to murder you himself.
