As an Australian, have you heard of or read about PHILLIP PARKER KING?

As an Australian, have you heard of or read about PHILLIP PARKER KING? We have asked this question of Historians and they have not heard of him or his second in command, Septimus Roe or Bedwell the third officer. Most of us know about the Englishman Matthew Flinders and also Bass. King charter more of the Australian coast. Why don't we know about him.

If you are 22 to 27 years old think about these three as young men. They fought in the Napoleon Wars, Bedwell accompanied Napoleon when exiled to St Helena Island and then the three of them charted Australia. Amazing history. Why don't we all know this thoroughly? We read King of the Australian Coast. Have you read it?

No,but I once lived in the house that was formerly his father's home,Dunheved, near St Mary's NSW.My father's boss had leased the farm as a grazing property and my dad managed it.Iwas born when my parents lived there, but my mother had gone to be near family in Grenfell, NSW,and I was born there in Henry Lawson's birthplace. We left Dunheved when I was around 18 months old,so I don't remember it really. As you probably know, there is now a suburb Dunheved on that spot.I shall look forward to obtaining a copy of the book however as I knew nothing of Governor King's family.
