In honor of my late brother David, who are your top 5 greatest p4p fighters of all time?
BQ: also in honor of my brother, if John L. Sullivan would have truly been in his prime, would he have beaten James J. Corbett? My brother always loved John L.

Top 5 greatest p4p fighters:
1. Harry Greb
2. Sugar Ray Robinson
3. Willie Pep
4. Henry Armstrong
5. Muhammad Ali
Honorable Mentions: Sandy Saddler, Marcel Cerdan, Ezzard Charles, Tony Canzoneri, Joe Louis, Jack Johnson, Mickey Walker, Jimmy Wilde, Archie Moore, Sam Langford, Joe Gans, Benny Leonard, Roberto Duran
BQ: I'm sure Sullivan would've beaten Corbett prime for prime. Corbett needed 21 rounds to beat an overweight, alcoholic and awful trained Sullivan. Even Corbett himself said after the fight that Sullivan would've beaten him at his prime. Corbett was an eye-witness of the prime Sullivan and years later wrote in his autobiography in the 1920's that the prime Sullivan he witnessed as a youngster as spectator, was as fast as Jack Dempsey at his prime, yet was bigger and stronger and could knock you out with both hands too. Sullivan was also famous for his stamina, where he rates higher than Jim Jeffries and Rocky Marciano together (he had once a bare-knuckle fight for 75 rounds and winning it!) That bare knuckle fight shows also that he could take unbelievable punishment (imagine 75 rounds full of punches with bare fists against your head and body!) I'm sure that with Dempsey like speed at his prime, Sullivan would've catched Corbett in the early rounds and would've taken him out.

I would love to honour your brother and say Sullivan would of knocked him senseless but i'm not to up on that era in HW boxing.I do know that Corbett transcended the science with his hit and run tactics.Whether a prime vicious Sullivan would have caught up with him i do not know

1. Rocky Marciano since he's the definition of the term P4P. Not naturally gifted with height and reach but dominated the HW division like no other in history. If that's not P4P greatness then I dunno what is.
2. Harry Greb
3. Sugar Ray Robinson
4. Roberto Duran
5. Willie Pep

1. Sugar Ray Robinson: Best welterweight of all time, best middleweight of all time, and clearly the best P4P boxer of all time. Robinson is what every other fighter who has ever laced up the gloves has tried to be.
2. Henry Armstrong: Back when championships were real, Henry owned three weight divisions...at the same time.
3. Muhammad Ali: Inside the ring his resume lists over a dozen of the heavyweight division's greatest, outside the ring he was a political, social and religious leader. He became one of the most recognized figures of his, or any other era.
4. Joe Louis: It gets no bigger than an American Buck Sergeant fighting a Nazi Paratrooper on the eve of WWII, Louis/Schmeling II was not only the biggest boxing match in the history of boxing, it might very well have been the biggest sporting event period in the history of sports.
5. Roberto Duran: The greatest lightweight in the history of the division, and the only of the era's greats to beat Sugar Ray Leonard, he went the full 15 rounds with Marvin Hagler and won world titles from 135 up to 168. Manos De Pedra is one of my personal favorites.
God bless you and your brother, it is a privilege to do you both this honor, I am sorry for your loss and you and your family are in my prayers.

Late to your question, apologies. I feel Corbett would still have beat a prime Sullivan.
I'm sorry to hear of the loss of your brother Toughguy. My condolences my friend and brother. My prayers will be with you.

1. Sugar Ray Robinson-nobody even comes close he was unbeatable at welterweight and a 5 time middleweight champ. He was a total package and could do it all. You name it Offense Defense punching power everything.
2.Roberto Duran-at lightweight was devastating and like Robinson however not as good a total package.
3.Henry Armstrong-whirlwind only fighter ever to hold 3 titles featherweight lightweight and welterweight simultaneously.
4.Willie Pep-greased lightning greatest featherweight ever.
5.Archie Moore -greatest light heavyweight ever even dropped Rocky Marciano.
Honorable Mention Julio cesar Chavez and Wilfredo Gomez Mexico and Puerto Rico greatest fighters. Chavez did not do 1 thing great but did everything well making him complete. Gomez was a terror and ruled 122 pounds like no other. His nickname was Bazooka and it fit.
I did not include any heavyweight because the division throughout history has been a below average class. Each fighter I named had longevity other than Gomez everybody else had over 100 fights. Robinson had 202 and Moore had 229 fights.Pep also had 242 fights.
