Cat with heart prob and urinating uncontrolably. What to do, not do? (owner recently put a cat "to sleep")?

Yep, I'm concerned the cat-loving owner may follow same path as last cat: She brought it to the vet(mistake 1) who.....of coarse used surgery and drugs(mistake 2...and costly) Those things didn't work, or caused worse problems, and then she had to pay for putting it to sleep.

Now here we go again.

This was a conversation between me and a housemate:

Me "The cat was homeless till we brought him in. Let's leave him outside"

- "it's too hot"

Me "He prefers it outside"

- " He doesn't know what he's doing"

I think we should leave animals alone to heal(only the body heals) or die, and not play God.

Update:

Summer & Edward - You haven't made your case. The cat doesn't seem to be suffering. It's called incontenince. A lot of people have it. Should they be put down?

You say it's "socially acceptable" though assisted suicide has been made illegal by society.

Update 2:

Universal - good answer. I though of diapers last night. But why shouldn't the cat go outside?

to "?" - I knew someone would not understand me. The body is the only thing that heals...given the right conditions. Today's Drs often do more harm than giving right conditions.

"Playing God" I meant killing after doing more harm. Just a day before, I tried giving an injured bird the right conditions.

Either find a vet who knows what they're doing, or find a good home for the cat.

Advertise it on the internet. There are some people that feel really bad for injured animals and take them in just for the sole purpose of nurturing them back to heath. Surely someone would take the cat in. If not, it's best to put it down. It is the socially acceptable thing to do.

take it to a local shelter! it may have hyperthyroidism which causes rapid heartraate and might cause incontinence.

I think it probably has a UTI , needs an antibiotic and if it is too hot outside, it may be having high heartrate from that as well

God gives us the ability to help his other creatures and by doing so we arenot "playing God" but helping another living thing.

God forbid you are ill on the street and someoneleaves you to heal yourself!

Both you and your housemate are wrong.

Number one, the cat should NOT be outside! He does not need to be euthanized either. They make diapers for incontinent cats, or else you can make one yourself from a baby diaper. An incontinent cat with a diaper can still lead a safe good quality indoor life.

Put it down. It hurts you but better for the cat.
