What are your views on the proposed "hybrid" game being put forward?
There is talk about the Wallabies playing the English Rugby League team in a hybrid game at Wembley at the end of the Wallabies spring tour. Thirteen a side, the attacking team's rules in their attacking half, shot clocks in place so if a team can't get out of their half in 60 seconds its a handover. Not a great deal more about it.
I watched the other games a few years back between Bath (?) and Wigan where they played two games, one under league rules and one under rugby rules. It was a novelty and that is the way it should stand.

Agree. The two games have rules that have evolved for the purposes of each game. When played at a high level, each is a fine game. Like you and BLM, I can imagine circumstance sin which a novelty is worth having, but not a novelty that is neither game.
This has all the ear-marks of somebody's idea of something that would be "more exciting", and "faster paced", and generally better suited for Television to be watched by people who do not know either code of rugby.
Sounds dreadful to me. And even if the controlling unions agreed (which seems far fetched), can you imagine the "clubs" of any of the players allowing the possibility of injury to their valuable property during a novelty game that means absolutely nothing?

I agree. Other than as some sort of charity fundraiser, I really don't see the point.
