electrical question: power a pc fan from wall socket?

Hi All,

how would i connect the 2 ebay items below together please?

1. 120mm PC fan with 4 pin connector: http://bit.ly/I6DfWv

2. 12V DC power supply: http://bit.ly/I7QUNn

Can i just strip back both connections and wire manually together?

Sure thing! You may first want to take a look at this: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Molex_connector#Disk_...

Your power supply should send the positive thru the center connector, so that would be +12VDC, the outer being the ground.

On the fans you will then pick one of the black wires for ground, and Yellow if you want the fans at full speed, or the Red if you want them in slower spedd which is also very quiet.

Note: You will connect the Red OR the Yellow, not both.
