Ways to make reading fun?

Ok so first of all I'm 13 years old. So don't say you can earn prizes and stuff like that. In not a little kid. But my school has summer reading book and I NEED to read it for school but it's SO boring. I can't get myself to just sit down and start reading the book! I'm not a good reader and I have problems staying focused and understanding the plot so are there any ways or tips to make me look forward to reading and enjoy it?

Find a really good spot to read. Sit on a porch with the sun shining, or under a tree in a park. The reason you are not able to get through it is because you are telling yourself that you don't want to do it and putting yourself into a negative mood before you even crack the spine. Get yourself into a positive attitude and you might actually find you really enjoy reading.

If you can get a more interesting book you would enjoy it...i love reading novels but i'm very picky and have been bored with plenty of books in the past. Books are like songs or movies, you love some and hate some. if you cant change books you have no choice but to just force yourself sorry

Read it with a funny voice, After so many pages reward your self with something, Divide the reading into sections, try dancing while reading, then sit down because it makes you feel funny. Read on the toilet, read in the bath, listen to an audio version, make a fort and read in the fort. Pretend you're the main character(unless it's non-fiction)

I listen to music and instead of reading I make it a movie in my head. It's sad that I'm 16 and still do it but it really helps!

This probably sounds stupid and childish, but I always make up a back story for each character and that makes it more exciting. Hope that helps.
